The Power of Will

Tue, 08/16/2016 - 23:40 -- zimran

I remember in sixth grade,

at the Poetry Café.

I was up on the stage,

only a few words left to say.

Finally, my trembling and shaking ceased,

and I glanced at the audience,

their faces blown away.

I never believed that one single day,

could change the way

my life would sway,

to become the person I am today.

Writing poetry, a skill I never sought to achieve.

Yet now it is a skill I would never want to leave.

The one thing I find so natural to weave

into perfection.

Poetry is to some, a boring and dull chore,

but to others, it is so much more.

Poets, like me, use poems to shape their lore.

They use poetry to open new doors,

to dimensions unlike any imagined before.

Now I compete using my best of skills.

Young and unexperienced--

but channeling the power of will.

This poem is about:
Me
Our world
