Poverty

She walks three miles to receive water

You walk 200 feet or less to the fridge

While your life expectancy is 68 years

Hers is 45 years or less

Water pipes and wells provide little to no water

And when it does run its contaminated from human or animal waste

The little fuel the village has is used to boil down the water

It goes by the name of poverty

Known worldwide of depriving those of liberty and equality

It creeps upon families as an unwanted visitor

And is nothing but sinister

Lyme disease, Tuberculosis, and Monkey pox’s are just some other unwanted  guests to face

Where in Sub Saharan Africa 23 million adults of the world’s 33 million adults and children are now infected with HIV/AIDS

Too poor to buy food and too poor to make or find food

Housewives complain about their house chores

While African mothers live another day too poor

Poverty has no special name or face and can creep around you without a name or trace

Its feet are heard everywhere

Where in the U.S. alone, more than 3.5 million people  lose their home

As you hope to win the lottery and hit the jackpot

Put a little more thought into what you've got
