Positive

She’s not that popular
Not many know her name
She’s not the type to play around
She’s not with those games

Independence and self-worth
Not looking for a Net Worth
Just wants to be successful
Before her date with the hearse

But just like any teen
Emotions get involved
And just like any teen
Things start to evolve

She meets this boy
High school is his kingdom
He was the Star Quarterback
And loved his freedom
He thought she was cute and
Needed to be approached
But she was sort of shy
So he showed her the ropes

Just like any fling, it started steady and slow
She loved the pace, but he wanted to start the show
She liked him, she did, but she didn’t feel ready
She wasn’t trying to swipe her V-Card
When they weren’t going steady

He’s been ready from the jump
And is growing impatient
He wants to get her in his sheets,
Downstairs in his basement

She’s battling something she’s not sure she can win
If he liked her now, well, did he like her then?
Insecurities getting the best of her,
This situation is stressing her
He said if they don’t do something,
He’s moving on without her!

She doesn’t know what to do,
She doesn’t know what to do
She went from being miserable
To having a boo
Movie nights and hickies
She was Minnie to his Mickey
And everything was great
But in order to keep it
She had a decision to make
And she did.

She couldn’t do it
Her conscious wouldn’t let her
And just like he said he would,
He left her
She had morals and respect
That’s something he’ll never get
And that’s why she let him go.

Good thing she did
Because she heard something that couldn’t be
She found out that the “King of high school” has HIV

All she could think was “What if?”
“What if that was me?”
“It would’ve been my first and last experience of intimacy”
“A million people affected,”
“And number a million and one would’ve been me”

No girl came near him
He was called all types of names
He even came to her with the same old games
Thinking of her morals she said no once again
And she wishes him the best as they remain friends.

As time goes by he gets really sick
Refuses to take his medication,
So he had to tell his coach he quits
No longer cool,
Drops out of school
And is struggling because of lack of medicine

One late night at home,
He feels weak
His hands are shaking
And can barely speak
He has to go to the hospital
As he was losing his physique

When he got there
They tell him what he already knows
The doctor then asks,
“Do you know what it does though?”

“It weakens your immune system,”
“By killing cells that help you get better”
“Therefore it’s harder to recover when you’re under the weather”

After that night
He grabbed a hold on his life
Took his medication
And did everything right
His system was getting stronger
Chances of living were getting longer
And he vowed to never make a reckless decision again
Now that he’s HIV Positive. She’s not that popular
