Poetic Liberty Watches Us Soar

I write for the people who fought for me,
paved the way for a better and brighter future for us.
That encouraged the intelligence and strength-
of a people who are shunned.

I write for the people before me
Fredrick Douglas, Langston Hughes,Gloria Naylor, Maya Angelou.
Writing flows like the calm yet chaotic river
providing subtle meaning in the deepest of ways.

I write for the people who birthed me
giving me life to express my creativity.
Words falling on paper with style and flare
allowing me the freedom of thought.

I write for the art of opinion.
Imagination embraced by a pencil.
My views are able to accept and challenge-
that is why writing is my principle.
