This Poem is Words

We seem to take words for granted when we think and speak

I wish to reverse that trend now: words are incredible

What else can cast a smile upon your face, or send chills?

Leave your cheeks aflame with anger, or wet with a tear

Without ever reaching your senses?

Words allow us a look at the power of our minds

I’ll just leave these here: goop. soggy. moist.

Did you grimace? Wince? Just a bit?

Let’s try another set: kittens. waffles. gummies.

I actually feel a bit better. Euphoria sets in.

You've seen, smelled, tasted, heard, touched nothing

But our minds conjure feelings where none existed prior

Do you sense this concept? Do my words give off my attitude?

Good, they better. Ah, I’ve suddenly become condescending and impatient.

I apologize for my grandstanding and bloviating.

Actually, that sentence was just Pretentiousness 2: Electric Boogaloo

Add “electric boogaloo” to any title; it will become funnier and more pleasing.

I feel like this poem has been sort of fatuous;

If you don’t know that word, can’t you just tell it’s negative?

In summation, I've typed much and said little, so I will close:

Words are powerful. Words are influential. Words are fun.

Their implication, application, execution, can heighten or ruin anything

Goo goo g’joob.
