A Playful Tide

I sprint to a glittering sea of blue

Beside me are those I love, splashing about

I feel the water that holds me, and watch my hand glide through it

Waves grab whatever they can

They absorb me as I dive

I feel the chill of ocean as I surrender to the water

Underneath salt stains my lips

But I don’t care

I float to the top where I take a deep breath

But only for a second

The power of the tide throws be backward

My body bent in half

I seek the surface

But the ocean laughs

I remember what a friends once told me:

“Look for the bottom then push up”

I did so and found air and light

I am stunned, then laughter erupts
