Place in the summer

It is true things come easy

for those who are young,

when it hits them to run,

having no regard for the course

life sets before them.

Instead, a different course

is pursued in defiance.

Actions dismiss cognizance

on passage to innocent kisses.

On the way, they gather bliss

and never once think

of life beyond the warmth

of the one held in arms.

The beauty of the moment is reflected

where one can see

both portraits and their timid canvas—

the sea.

At a glance, beyond the waters,

lies the island of bedlam and dreams.

By the low moon,

and luminous buildings

one can see where movement gathers

amongst the dying dream to succeed.

And for a moment power is felt

Along with greed.

All things have their place

in some time.

Somewhere, exists the moment to love

to live, to feel, to dream.

What the foolish replace for reality,

has a place in the summer

in the arms of another.
