That Place

Location

First there was silence

Footsteps near my room

Soft whispers through the walls

Slowly the door opened

The coldness grasped my arms

It took me to that place

Not the one where my grandmother smiled

Or where my aunt laughed

But where the tears fell down my face

Kissed my cheeks and the darkness

Ran through my fingers

Death broke my reality

I saw my uncle in my dreams

His charming smile and warm heart

Wit and sense of humor

And felt his presence

I saw my Uncle in my family

Depression in my grandmother

Death eroding her soul

Hope in my father and

His laugh in his son

Time passed

Hope grew strong

Our family began to live again

Faces radiant and glowing

Happiness replaced sadness

Future replaced the past

Love triumphed my darkness
