Pity upon a Cancer Child

Words with social norms

Prayers and thoughts to keep us warm

Hollow and empty they do seems

Cancer spreads and the words grow numerous

And hollow all the same.

Powerful, brave, a great example they name us

Viewing us as examples of the worse

Prayers and thoughts to keep us warm

Words with social norms

Cruel and unfeeling are those who see the truth

Labeled as such by those who speak with the tongue of social norm

A child with all to lose, all to be stolen, all not be achieved

Sorrow instilled ,

anger spit,

and chemo trickles in.

Powerful, brave, a great example they name us

Oddities to be mentioned as heroes, the bravest of souls

What credibility does this hold, what have I done to be powerful?

What have I done to warrant your hollow prayers?

What do your hollow prayers even achieve?

How do they help me?

They don’t.

They do nothing to lift my spirit

Only do they allow you to check your box.

Pity expressed

But I say to you take back you pity

Take back the out-casting words you sling at me.

Instead treat me like a member of humanity.

Or else I live surrounded

Encased

Suffocated

Tormented by
