Pieces

Filipino.

Korean.

American.

Daughter.

Sister.

Student.

Athlete.

Artist.

Musician.

These are all a pieces of who I am

They are the pieces of a puzzle,

Nine pieces out of hundreds.

There are pieces that I wish for fate to give me:

Wife.

Mother.

There are others that I know I must work hard for:

Graduate.

Medical Student.

Doctor.

There are some which require bravery:

Doctor without Borders.

Public Speaker.

And others which demand kindness:

Charity Contributor.

Best Friend.

These pieces and more are everything I am and everything I want to be.

They are what make me, me.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
