Pick one and stay

Past, present, futurePick one and stayPick, but howYou think too muchYou’re caught in a time warpSit for hours, nothingLife drones on, mind numbingSenseless of the world around youNo concept of timeThey say you’re screwed for the futureThey say be better, try harderThey don’t knowYour brain doesn't function like theirsYou can’t will it a commandComing from him, her, youOverloaded with thoughts and commandsIt pushes out the unnecessaryOften not ideally necessaryBut the brain is in controlDominance over you, your body, your time Past, present, futurePick one and stayPick, but howIs it possible to be emotionally numb and overthink at the same timeTo get lost in your thoughts, in timeWhat is time, what is lost if there is no timeThinking too much about why you’re thinking too littleThey don’t understandThey demand explanationYou can’t explainThoughts overload the brain, incapable of expressionNo expression, no words, no explanationHow do you explain the very thing that drives you a bit closer to insanity each dayIn fact, every minute of every dayLeft to drown in your thoughtsThe hard drive is overloadedOn the verge of self destruct Past, present, futurePick one and stayPick, but howQuestions rolling the rimDid they, do they, will theyEither way, a lossWrapped up in the perspective of othersThey ask how you can live if not for yourselfThey don’t know you’re slowly dying each timeEvery decision, small or bigThey decide, it's not youNever youThey control your very thoughts, your actionsThe hard drive hyper loadedExplosionThe very loss of normality becomes that insanity Past, present, futurePick one and stayPick, but howYesterday, today, tomorrowToo much, too littleThem, youAn impossible task of filtrationThey say decisions are quickWhen you can’t pick which toothbrushThey say a toothbrush doesn’t matterBut you ask what if a toothbrush matters‘What if’Your voldemort, terminator, darth vaderA void of endless destructionBut no expiration leaves no explanationAnd curiosity kills the catSo…How do you explain the very thing that kills you just a little bit each dayThey demand explanation, but refuse to understand Past, present, futureIf only you could pick one and stayBut how
