Perfectly Flawed
Location
For years I've stood in front of a mirror,
My nose too pointy,
My cheeks too round.
But I never uttered a sound.
For years I cursed that mirror,
It doesn't tell the truth,
It doesn't give me answers.
But rather the world's skewed "enhancers".
For Photoshop lies,
Altering our perception of beauty.
Creating anger and dissatisfaction
Because we can't become what we see.
But I am
Perfectly
Flawed….
For my beauty is not my complexion.
But the outward expression of the love I possess.
I’ve accepted my flaws,
Because it’s only when we accept them that we are truly flawless.
For the love I express to others
Skews the fouled perception of beauty.
I don’t care what you look like
Or that you bite your nails when you’re nervous.
It’s when we stop fighting to be perfect
And let acceptance rule our thoughts,
Then love will shine through.
I already accept you.
Accept me too.
For I am
Perfectly
Flawed….
Therefore
I
Am
Flawless.
