The Perfect Escape

Tue, 05/02/2017 - 16:23 -- Honey_

Looking out the window,
I watched as the green leaves billowed in the breeze
Even as I did, I envied them their freedom
And carefree nature
Their immobility seemed not to bother them

They always seemed to be saying something to me
Their silent messages soothed my soul
Though understanding of them I lacked
I much preferred this beautiful melody of nothing
To the sad and filthy excuses for words
That most people had to say about their fellow kind

These leaves,
They appeared to look out for each other
And for me too sometimes
When I’m too tired
To deal with others like me

For me,
This serenity, this ambience
Was perfection
The best way to delude myself
That time had indeed stopped to give me a breather
The perfect escape
