Penny Dreadful

Reckless Penny Dreadful

On the posy in your boutonniere

A face is aptly shining

But we both well know it isn't there

Penny, Penny Dreadful

Lest you think it isn't fair

Lest you think it isn't fair

Wretched Penny Dreadful

On the very day that you were born

A giant caught the rickets

And the angel army left in scorn

Penny, Penny Dreadful

Now's an awful time to mourn

Or the perfect time to mourn

Tactless Penny Dreadful

Like a plague you carried on and on

Your fellows don't complain

Since now the white man's burden's finally gone

Penny, Penny Dreaful

There's a reason you were wrong

There's a reason you were wrong

Wicked Penny Dreadful

Spreads its fear and leaves the world a-mend

But then it goes away

Though we can say we'll see its face again

Penny, Penny Dreadful

Not a shame you had to end

It was a violent, bitter end
