Pencil Problems

A pencil, you say?  A pencil I'll get.

Hold on for a sec, can I get a minute?

I just need to give this pencil a tip,

I'll sharpen it quick, then we'll get right to it.

I've got to step out and run down the hall

'Cause that sharpener won't do it.  That one there - on the wall.

It's always too full of pieces of lead

That broke off the ends of pencils and pens.

There's always that guy who thinks that it's cool

To sharpen a pen and act like a fool.

For crying out loud, this sharpener won't work!

I hope the electric one won't go berserk.

The last time I used it, it buzzed off the desk,

Got tangled in cords, and made a huge mess.

The manual sharpener is the tool I prefer,

But it's tough to find one that won't make me infer

That perhaps I might be a bit behind times

As I sit at my desk writing nursery rhymes.

I should prob'ly start tracing the modern-day stencil

And invest a few bucks in a mechanical pencil.

Your meter is impeccable, your rhyme scheme gets to be wonderful, and your poem amuses me greatly. I like how you chose not to dwell on angst-laden topics, and merely said something I've found myself thinking.
