Peeling

I'm easy
To make smile,
But that does not
Mean I'm
happy.

I feel the sides
Of my mouth lift,
And the eyes
Turn away.

They don't see
The terrors I face,
Every.
Day.

I'm sobbing inside
Where no one can see.
Put on a pretty face
And I'll be happy.

But everyone leaves.

I become a
Scared little girl.
The world spinning
Around me.

And everyone is gone.
And I can't breathe.
And I fall.
And no one's there to catch me.

It's an abyss
And the walls
Are closing
In
Around

The thumping
In my ear is increasing.
While everyone stares at
me.

But those stares see past
The scars.

The pain
The happiness
The years of

Anxiety

They will never understand,

I smile for myself.
A reminder
That I am not only
A broken little girl.
