A Peculiar Rebellion

Location

I am so tired of all the voices that I hear
Their catchy sayings attempt to mold me into an average teen
I will be the rebel that is expected by defying mainstream culture

"Follow your heart!", they cry
I will
But with a large dose of common sense

"Express yourself!", they cry
I will
But with caution to leave my heart a well of secrets

"Love yourself", they cry
I will
But only second to others

I will not hide my beliefs any longer
I will follow tradition
I will listen to the advice of my parents

So teens,
Please stop listening to popular mantra
And join me in a peculiar rebellion
