Pay Attention

Location

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain,

He stands hollow and meek

Bear witness only to the façade of the curtain

It hides his faults, concealing truth,

Presenting himself as an illusion,

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain,

Whose shame and doubt have led him there

Acknowledge only the stranger,

Whose power and beauty flows

Like the satin curls of the curtain

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain,

For he is insecure in his skin

Pay tribute only to the curtain which hides,

His insecurities from the world

Truth from the sight of society

But we should pay attention

To the man behind the curtain,

For he embodies the damned which we fear

The weakness which is so vulnerable,

Yet so beautiful

So unmask the man behind the curtain,

See that he is not a mirage

But a reflection – flesh and blood,

Look into his eyes

And realize that the man behind the curtain

Is you
