Past's Torment

Location

When I first came here

I thought things were going to get better.

I had this image inside my head

of how things were going to be.

Not perfect, of course not....

Just the simple yet happy life

I always prayed for

before going to sleep.

Contentment was suppose to be,

but in the end they were questions

of how, what and why.

I was a child, I didn't know

so what gives HIM the right

to take happiness from me?

Life itself was supposed

to be filled with memorable memories,

both pleasant and not;

to share with those whom you love

and cherish to look back.

In the end my past is full of hurt

and dark alleys everywhere I go,

yet here I am smiling for

the life that I now have.
