Past

Ephesians 4:26 New English Translation (NET Bible)

26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on the cause of your anger.

Night time.

Time for sleep that does not come.

Conscience scattered ... peace forlorn

Thoughts of things I should have done,

but "who" can change the past?

Truth purifies and shows the wrong,

that was done in time now gone.

You see the filth that you have sown,

but "Who" will change the past?

Deceit and fake are uncovered now.

It shows so clear the corrupt somehow.

No rest or peace will cover your flaws,

but "Who" will judge the past?

You cry to God … but does He hear?

There was a time He was so near.

No answer now just simple fear.

You're caught up in your past.

Am I slowly dying a spiritual death?

Where peace is gone and no more rest

or did I die when I left the nest,

that God prepared in the past?

I see now that every test I take,

I try to pass with all that's fake.

It appears to be a piece of cake

until it returns me to my past.

How far past forgiveness did I crawl

as I try to repent it hits the wall.

The more I cry and the more I call.

I can't escape my past.

Does God not care, " He " Who gave his Son,

for all the wrongs that I have done?

I believe in Him but my love is gone.

Lost somewhere in my past.

I read about, " His Hand is stretched out still",

but I can't see through my own will.

Please my God don't wait until

I'm strangled by my past.
