To him who finds freedom,
Beauty, and grace in Dance: she holds him
In a warm embrace. She removes
All confusion and doubt and fear
From his mind and casts it from him.
She lightens his darker moods;
With her beautiful voice, she
Sings away his sorrows;
All he knows when beside her:
An enveloping longing to stay.
Fate plays her role trying
To break apart the happy couple.
With all her might, she pulls
On his coat tails asking him to leave
His one true love.
He will not.

He struggles against her
Unrelenting grasp and finally, finally
Breaks free from the hands,
Refusing to leave his bride;
Vowing “Until death do us part.”
Dance rejoices his decision
For she was worried:
Good-byes rapidly approaching.
Dance feared that as she jetéd, pliéd, développéd,
And swayed in time to melodies
Swelling and falling inside her chest, she’d
Never have noticed his departure.
Never have seen her partner tiptoe away.
Never have finished the Pas de deux.
They remain together, as fate
Lost her battle. Forever
They will stay close
Moving as one in the same heartbeat.

Rest for a while until
You catch your breath, she says. Wait,
While your heartbeat slows. Stop,
And replay the ballet. Engrave
It into your memories. Watch
How you glide and shine, Notice
That calmness flows through you and around you.
Listen to Dance’s sweet voice, Find
Freedom in her rhythm, Feel
The stillness she bestows, Hope
For the renewed spirit she offers.
Then continue on.
Dance to feel beauty impossible to imagine.
Recognize you—royalty in hesitant reveries.
