Pantoum to a Homeless

Location

You moved to my street on a Sunday

People pass by but no one sees you

Your fragile home is built every night

Do you still wonder how you got here?

People pass by but no one sees you

But today my eyes are wide open

Do you still wonder how you got here?

Aren’t we ashamed of what we’ve done?

But today my eyes are wide open

Maybe you were a father or a war hero

Aren’t we ashamed of what we’ve done?

I wish I could be a helping hand

Maybe you were a father or a war hero

maybe your courage took your sanity

I wish I could be a helping hand

I wish I could be more than I am
