Pain Is A Flower Too

You presented this to me when we were alone.

It dangled before my eyes

With its treasures found and stole

Stripped from his soul heartbreaking cries

So I kissed his pain

Absorbed to make it mine

Hung it out in the rain

Gave it some light, love, and time

Hid it so that no one would ever know

But just because you plant a seed

Doesn’t mean it will grow

So I plucked up the weeds

And gave it new an earth to live in

Poured on to it true love

To let it know it’s worth a true feeling

I gave it the sun to be warm

Throughout the long hard day

I gave it the stars

So it and the moon can play

See I can move depression

I can shake down all your fears

I can stop oppression

And end the flow of tears

To me saying I love you

Is like a coat that’s already been worn

I would rather build you up

And pull you up out of your storm

See love is love

And hate is hate

Right is right

But who is wrong

That’s the question we ask ourselves

And then that’s how we move on
