Our Scars

I see through your covers of a wristband.

I know how it feels firsthand.

Some people look at our scars and don't understand.

But things like this are never preplanned.

Emotions hit you like an uncontrollable storm.

The blood on your wrists begins to get warm.

All you can do now is try and cover it up,

But I'm here. I'm here to help hold you up.

You show me the knife and the cuts that you made

Things like that make me so afraid.

I see your wall go up as they come through the door

And I just sit here wishing I could say more.

I ask you to keep our promise

No more cutting. You seem so honest

But the temptations are too strong

This emotional strength won’t last for long.

Emotions hit you like an uncontrollable storm.

The blood on your wrists begins to get warm.

All you can do now is try and cover it up,

But I'm here. I'm here to help hold you up.

As time goes on we know we are strong.

And our pains and struggles are never lifelong.

Our battles in life, show in our scars

Because of our trials we know who we are.

All you can do now is try and cover it up,

But I’m here. I’m here to help hold you up.
