This is how it feels
this is how it feels to walk the streets
without seeing a glare from someone
to meet people who don't just judge
I have more to me
I don't feel afraid about what might happen
I'm happy as can be
I have all I can want
the history behide it is powerful
its even inspiring
he made it his life
he fought for our rights
he marched for us and fought for his dream
his dream was powerful
he dreamt of the future
here is our future
like he predicted
two children of white and negro played
we were the best of friends
we did everything together
and still after so long
we are strong together
in our time we weren't looked down upon
we were seen as normal
but now I think back and think
what if he didn't fight for what he did
what if nobody did
then us best friends wouldn't be best friends
we could even be enemies
but because of him we are friends
well we were friends now we are together
he is my better half
I thank the heavens for him
I thank the movement that allowed us to not be frowned upon
we are just normal people
we are seen as everybody else
he is blake and I am white and we are us
we are two people in love
