Ordinary, No Thanks

Location

What about the boy at school

Who alway sits alone

Becaus people think he's too weird

Yeah,

He has autism.

Or the girl

Who has never been invited to a sleepover

Because of her angry outbursts

Did you know

She's physically abused?

Hav you seen John

the middle school boy

Whose never had a partner

for any school project

His dad isn't around

And his single mom works two jobs

Leaving him alone most nights.

Have you noticed Lizzy?

The girl whose shyness

Keeps her isolated.

Do even notice?

Or are we to busy

And self-absorbed?

Pardon me.

104 likes on my selfie

But do I consider the person who can't get any?

Shopping all the time

because I have to be updated on the lastest styles

But what about the people

who get left out?

Because society says

Their wardrobe isn't updated

What if they're basically homeless?

Only ten people came to my party

But I invited twenty.

No one likes me.

But do I consider the guy

Who invited the whole school

But the only person to show

was his cousin.

Now I'm not trying to make you feel guilty

for posting a selfie

or buying new clothes

But what if our focused

Shifted on to others?

Like a picture of someone

Who joy is complete

If they get five.

In class

Ask the guy

Who has never had a partner

To be yours.

You get invited to the hottest party of the year

Cool

Invite the girl

Who no one

Knows her name.

Join me in my journey

To bring the outsiders in.
