An Open Letter to Myself

Location

I wish I could give you my globe

And remind you that it won’t always be this way

I would tell you that one day, you will escape to somewhere far away from here

“This isn’t the first time you’ve felt this way,” My world would say—

“And it’s not the last. Life is tough, but you are tougher.”

I would tell you that one day, everything will change

That even though you’re suffocating now, life will get better

I would whisper that you won’t always feel this broken

I wish I could pick a place on my globe, and take you far, far away from your pain

I wish I could use my globe to heal your scars

To help you break away from this cage you’ve built for yourself,

To take you away from the monotony of this life

I wish I could take my globe

And remind you that one day, you will leave this place behind.
