Only You ...

Psalm 71:16

16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD;
I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

The eye of the beholder shows the state of the heart

Even forty days of consecration can have selfish overtones

Maybe only we can show a willingness to be set apart

From self, flesh and the world like marrow from the bone

Lord help my eyes to see. The ways of You and me

Help me to grasp far beyond the straws

Lord. Only you should be. The substance of my dreams.

Where I rest my head delivered from my flaws

Here I am alone. Surrounded by Heavenly Host

Only my pen is scratching as it kisses the paper

How little I understand beyond my flesh and bone

It seems so apparent now that Life is more than a vapor

Far beyond the breath I take nutrition is provided

Beyond my wants and wishes daydreams begin

My flesh seems so prevalent to keep me blindsided

Throwing out or reeling in my heart as a daily spin

Only You are the answer to suppress my confusion

Only You can show the free Way to walk

Only You can catch me if I fall into frustration

Only You can help me listen when all I do is talk
