Only You

As I watch the world around me begin to crumble

I feel my feet beginning to weaken beneath me

I see no point in holding on until the end

because in the end there is nothing but sorrow, grief, and despair

I can feel myself sinking

My feet have almost reached the bottom of this overwhelming pit of anguish

And just then I hear your divine words-

"Do not be be afraid, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God

is with you wherever you go"-

And these words sustain me

It is only your tenderness, your fortitude

that make my days of endless darkness ever so bright

And for that, may your name forever be positioned on my lips

It is only You that gives me strength

It is only your mercy and goodness

that keeps me clinging to this life so full of sorrow

When I hear Your consoling voice saying,

"Joy will come in the morning"

I am able to say that I will fear no evil

I now know that I live only because of You

and You are the only thing I can't live without
