I remember my first day here,

It was cold and windy

Yet the sun was out shining

Bringing some warmth on this cold day

You were sitting on a bench,

Reading the newspaper

Glancing up every few minutes

As if you were waiting for someone

Our eyes met through the crowd,

Your piercing brown eyes locked

With my dull blue ones

And I thought it was love at first sight.

You made the first move

And I was so happy you did,

Charming your way into my heart

You were the best thing that ever happened to me

Our love was one too good to be true

It was fate you’d tell me,

I was your one and only

And we’d live happily ever after.

My love for you was one for the books,

Because there was nothing I wouldn’t do for you.

Every single second of my life

Was dedicated to make you happy

I only expected the same from you

But that didn’t happen.

You’d tell me you love me

But I knew it wasn’t pure

We were doomed from the start.

It wasn’t meant to be

I should have known,

Happily ever afters only exists in fairy tales.
