One World; One Love

One Nation Under God?

My, I guess the people across the sea don’t count

Or the ones who don’t pledge their allegiance

We miscount those who are different

Yet we are the land of the free; we accept all

And fall short of our own standards

Killing and mistreating across the world

We want to be heard and respected

Our word; our language above theirs

Who are we to judge who is better or worse?

Whose perspective?

Who are we to say who is defective?

One Nation Under God. No. One World. One Love.

It’s time to unite

Humanity must fight to stay alive to see the truth

I wear different clothes, I talk different, so do you

We don’t look the same or act the same; it’s true

But we all have eyes, ears, and a nose

Yet we act like foes

When we all really want peace, love, and equality

To see the light sparkle from the ones we protect

Or for once to be seen as a person without neglect

Respect, for being human; that’s all we ask for

Is it too much? To wish, to want more

One World. One Love.

A seemingly impossible dream

If we only acted like a team

Sure we might not agree

But we are family; we’d work it out

All we need is love; a beating heart

To start building a whole new world

Where the word different wouldn’t set us apart
