One in two

Romans 8:5-6             New English Translation

5 For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit. 6 For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,

One in two

Is it to be minded a simple choice or a gift of the uncertain?

A gift hardly understood, a gift hiding behind a curtain.

A state that divides a man in two that’s founded on a contradiction

Fought within but shown without embracing all that is friction

If it is a choice I wonder was it mine or was it pre-selected?

Not because it was just me, but the way my life reflected.

My spirit was dead you know, so I really never understood me.

So how could I make a choice or accept the gift that’s shown me?

Once the gift of “Life Himself”, helped me die to make Him my shelter

How could I not embrace the One, Who revealed to be my Helper?

My feet He planted on the Rock, but my eyes are under my control.

Why is carnality so strong as my flesh seems deep in sin embroiled?

A carnal Christian is that me? Did my spirit experience Life truly?

Sometimes I don’t feel like it at all because my mind is so unruly?

Even now it is hard to remember where this poem really started.

Was it on the day of my birth or when I feel like the “Dearly Departed”?
