The one thing I could not live without

The one thing I could not stand to live without is a person indeed,

although they would be just another mouth to feed.

I could not bear to stare into the ocean blue,

as I would only remember her eyes;

crystal clear, but their depth surpassing that of the sea's.

Her warm embrace more comforting than the warmth of the sun on the sands.

Her words sweeter than the whispers of the winds, their secrets simply silence.

Quiet.

I never was one for silence.

Without companionship, I would descend into nothing but quiet, agonizing madness.

I could not live without another like me.
