One Job ...May Change My Life

Fleeing The Hood

Being rich, shallow famous and notoriety is not my dream

You see these extrinsic rewards are are just that, man given to say the least

Mine is to help my mother, brother and sister as trivial as it may seem.

The smell of gunsmoke, urine drenched elevators, should be motivation enough to flee

but when the odds are not in your favor

landing a job, hustling, finding enough money to eat is truly victory.

But why stop there when God said ask and you shall receive?

I believe in His precious word, knowing there is so much more for me.

You see.. out there somewhere is a job that will allow my pain

to dig deep down into the hearts of others living in my place

that truly demonstrates hope and not settle for just food on the plate.

Our experiences can hurt us or make us a great leaders to triumphantly march unscorned

Like David in the battlefield, he faced his giant without fear, thus his unconquered spirit was born..

O' take my life, career paths and future as a living sacrifice for others

to see yes you have a chance to be free, now go help your brothers

Help them see the truth; not to settle for the get rich promises of the street hustler you see,

but live big, dream big and get a worthwhile job like me.
