Once Upon the Death of a Dream

Once upon a time

there was a young dreamer

who worked the long days

in crippling fever

and when night fell

her weepy eyes close

exhaustion fade black

aspiration to grow

she held a dream

plated in silver

so again she awakes

to a job that will kill her

another day closer

to a dream never found

until she finally lay

her dream in the ground
