Once I Was Little.
Once I was little,happy & carefree
Once I was a happy child
Once all I dreamt of was growing up and being an independent somebody.
The time came for me to leave the nest
And spread my wings - Best believe I did
I was ready to show the world what & who I was.
However,The world was not so welcoming
Money for bills,
Money for fees,
Money for shelter,
Money for a lifestyle,
To which none I could afford.
Once I was little,happy & carefree
Once I was a happy child
Once all I dreamt of was growing up and being an independent somebody.
I knew I couldn't go back to the nest,
It was no longer for me.
I couldn't bare the staring,questions & embarrassment.
Denial came along -
I him while filling in forms for a bursary,
Said he could give it all to me
And all I had to do was make him happy.
I took the challenge.
I had it all
I was blossoming
I was the IT girl
I had even forgotten the nest I came from.
Once I was little,happy & carefree
Once I was a happy child
Once all I dreamt of was growing up and being an independent somebody.
I popped his pocket,
He popped my blouse,
I popped his cards,
He popped my buttons,
I popped his zip
He popped my cherry
And only then had I realised what I had let myself in,
I had to live though,I couldn't go back to the nest.
From Denial to John then Emmanuel and Peter.
I had no regrets .. Had no care in the world for their Maria,Elizabeth,Jessica nor Rose.
Once I was little,happy & carefree
Once I was a happy child
Once all I dreamt of was growing up and being an independent somebody.
And then one day -
I stopped,I had made enough to go back to the nest
To change it into a mansion - And so I did.
Found myself a lovely caring Arnold
Two beautiful babies.
I may have ruined lives to get to where I am
But I don't regret it .. It got me the perfect life
I mean, I'm as healthy as they come !!
Once I was little,happy & carefree
Once I was a happy child
Once all I dreamt of was growing up and being an independent somebody.
And indeed -
Happy & carefree I still am
And an independent somebody at it.
