The Old Piano

I sneked inside an old house one day

while the neighboorhood children and I decided to play

hide and seek the children squealed with joy

its fun to play wth girls or boys

Dust has settled everywhere

a dust bunny here a dust pile there

A magnificent piano stands tall in all its glory

how it ended up here is a long unknown story

It's lid creaks and out bats fly

into the mysterious starry night sky

the ebony and ivory no longer gleam

leather on the stool is bursting from the seam

too long has it waited to be played

so it waited for this fateful day

i took a huge breath and blew all the wind i stored

the cloud of dust nearly sent me out the door

i carefully taped on the ivory key

that one note told me it was meant to be

a burning of fire seared my soul

enflaming my body like coal

i pressed more keys i played a tune

i did not know how much time it consumed

i looked at the sky in amaze

it was already well into the day

telling myself it was time to hit the hay

i knew i would be back someday
