Oh Teacher, My Teacher

Location

Oh teacher, my teacher

What is this place I’m in?

Is it supposed to be a place of learning?

Or a place of yearning?

Because I yearn to be free of this place

Every time I come here it strips the joy right off my face

Oh teacher, my teacher

Why do you frown?

When my classmate acts like a clown

Oh teacher, my teacher

Why do you punish all of us?

When only one of us was fooling around

Oh teacher, my teacher

Why do you dislike fun?

When I try to make you laugh with a pun

You just stand there as if you have a gun

Seeming ready to mown us all down

Oh teacher, my teacher

This place must be hell

For I never feel well

And neither do you

Because you don’t have a clue

As how to teach children

Oh teacher, my teacher

Why must we have recess?

All it does, is causes me stress

Because I have to address

The potential harm my fellow schoolmates possess

Oh teacher, my teacher

I want to learn

But this is not the place for it

This place is hell, and all it does is burn

It burns away people uniqueness

Leaving a husk, which reflects societies view the perfect student

In a way this is a weakness

Because only through variety

can we learn to be a perfect society

Oh teacher, my teacher

Why can’t you see?

Learning can be fun

We don’t have to run this school the way they say it must be

We can overcome this old way of thinking

By believing that we can accept one another

And by being together than maybe we can finally focus on making learning fun

So teacher, my teacher

Please put down your gun

And let us of us have some fun

Together as one
