Oh the Joys of Childhood

People hustle and bustle by
They carry on with seemingly importance
It makes me wonder how they can do it
Day after day
Week after week

The same routines
No change
No variety
So plain
It makes me wonder if life really has that much importance
That much meaning

But then I think back
Back to my childhood
Back to when life was good
Always happy
Always fun
Always changing

Not a care in the world
Free from the burden of responsibility
Oh how I cherish those memories
Oh how lucky is the child of a free spirit
And then I ask myself why
Why must life be so full of its complications?

Why must we all strive to fill our days with the hustle and bustle the world too often promotes?
Leaving no time to relax
To play
To enjoy life as we did as children
Were we not just as alive then as we are now?

I say we must all learn this lesson from our days of childhood
While work is good
For it pays the bills
Play is healthy
It keeps us sane
