Oh, Abyssinia

Location

Observing through windows high in the sky,
The mountains and land,
Beauty you can't even buy.

While others may criticize,
I love this African country,
It's gorgeous in my eyes.

Once the great bird has landed,
I get straight to work,
But a cup of something dark I am handed.

The homeland of coffee,
It is true,
But the effects may make your mind sloppy.

Green, red, and gold,
The flag sways in the wind,
But it's never cold.

Home of the starving,
Young and the old,
Clipples, lepers, blind, and loafing.

Hospitality beyond compare,
Is shown by the natives,
To Ferenjis everywhere.

My dream is to start schools,
For children who are deaf to listen,
And the blind to no longer be called fools.

I want daily to be surrounded by,
These children and teach them not just to survive,
But to find their place in life.
