Ode to... Me! Self Love Is Awesome.

Dear Self,

Thank you height.

Thank you for forcing me to choose between looking like a fierce giant in heels,

Or looking frumpy in flats, but average size.

Thank you for jeans that never reach my ankle,

and maxi skirts that show half my calf.

But

Thank you for making me stand out.

Thank you for making dresses look good.

Thank you skin.

Thank you for teaching me to stand up straight

With my head held high.

Thank you for allowing me to not worry about tanning,

so I can focus on other things.

Even though you turn ten shades darker in the summer,

you still look great.

Thank you for not allowing me to get sunburnt,

For that, I will be forever thankful

Thank you hair.

Even though you hate me right now

And you’re going through an awkward phase and I can’t wear you out in your full afro glory,

thank you for always being there for me

Thank you for never falling flat.

No matter how much wind, rain, snow,

you always stay

Even though you get extremely tangled,

And you drink conditioner like water,

And you take 2 days to dry,

I still love you.

Even though you guys can be annoying sometimes,

altogether you make up me.

And I never want to be anyone else.

Ever.

So thank you.

Love,

Me
