Ode to History Class

Oh, mildly important class

Where I watch boring videos

Of patriots and villains and heroes,

I waste away sitting on my . . .

Rump.

I understand the value

Of avoiding Hitler’s mistakes!

I can even see why you

Would want an exciting new take

On wars and politics of old.

But I hate doing what I’ve been told,

The papers and projects and horrors

Known as homework.

I can deal with Scandinavian folklore;

I actually enjoy the teacher’s quirks.

But what I cannot EVER comprehend

Is the time which I must always spend

On cursed assignments, for what bad luck! Scoff

At the teacher, to whom I say . . .

Buzz off.
