Ode to a Friend: Il Pianoforte

Sat, 01/04/2014 - 20:57 -- Kaelyn

His fingers were gentle, flowing as they flew over the keys
The sounds were pure and feeling
We heard the piano play, carefree as a child
Then it jumped in chaotic movements chasing a little mouse
it rejoiced in the miracle of life
     it worshipped the quite night
Together, they flowed
     mourning the passing moments
     lowing a pretty maiden
     honoring their heroes
     comforting a crying child.
Together, hands and keys hoped to understand humankind
exploring hope, fear, grief, and love
experiencing anticipation, pain, warmth, and hesitation
understanding caring, wonder, waiting, and hope
living in saddness, light, curiousity, and acceptance.
They ranged through many emotions, anger to appreciation to loss and light.
But they never found why there was cruelty
why the world could not care
     why everyone could feel lonliness
     why people would hate
why there was so much pain
It was not how it was meant to be.
Together, hands and keys discovered many things,
but in the end, there were things they could not understand.
