October Vigil

October Vigil

Darkness sits so heavy,

but even the deepest night

is lifted by a candle's light.

A single light flickers so fragile,

but even the smallest flame

can light a thousand candles.

The light we share and

bring together in the night

shows us we are not alone.

We send up our prayers tonight

and they lift up the dark

like the lights we hold in our hands.
