Observing
Philippians 1:18-19 New Living Translation (NLT)
18 But that doesn’t matter. Whether their motives are false or genuine,
the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice.
And I will continue to rejoice. 19 For I know that as you pray for me
and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.
My neighbor … and self
I think about tomorrow … as I dream of yesterday
I will invest time in sorrow … just living on this way
An unending appetite … to get away far from self
An escape into the twilight … a dead-end I know well
In search of a substance … to fill a pot long broken
Unable to the hindrance … far past even just choking
Pieces scattered in the dust … what once was called a life
Now seen by self in disgust … even past common strife
A mixed-up mess of emptiness … with only one fix to go
To be delivered from loneliness … and jump into unknown
Only one Hand is reaching … to deliver from despair
It is the Hand of Jesus … for He is always there
The dying sight can’t see … nor the lost heart understand
That He will always be … to the hopeless a helping Hand
The ruler of the flesh … who blinds all the eyes he can
Always does his best … to keep you from God’s Plan
He loves the state of having … subjects out of their minds
So that in their craving … they won’t be able to find
The only path that’s leading … out of that sewery mess
To the Love of God unheeding … hungering to give the best
Like a scarlet thread forming … a blood-line to the Cross
Flowing from Genesis’ dawning … to deliver us from loss
Follow it to Life’s fountain … just let Him guide you there
The road clears every mountain … in such Christ’s Heart to share
