Quiet is the observer

Motionless in kaleidoscopic torment.

I thought until thought was meaningless.

“Grab the pen! Grab it, you coward!”

A ceaseless voice streams

Through an intravenous drip.

Its substance filters through the tubes,

Swirling in transparent loops,

Intoxicating my mind.

I long to tell you.

Fie! I am no coward.

I bleed this from me in ink;

This life-force flowing into the light

By which I dispel you.

The reverberations of this night

Pound in my ears

While my speculations play out

In detailed scenarios.

Is it all in my mind?

The silence bears no answer.

Its mockery of me bursts into drapery

Over a sky of indiscernible constellations.

I long to tell you…

The curves of these letters

Are birthed in synchronistic motion.

They move; they breathe; they live.

The residual I cast from my heart.

I thrust it into the flames

Blazing through a champion

Of this familiar frontier.

Quiet is the observer.

How I long to tell you…
