Oath of a Knife

Location

Move into a heart

my blade

quick from the sheathe.

Free

and without loyalty.

I am sharp

and true.

A knife is only as good

as the one who wields me.

Blade against blood,

fear amidst flesh.

Crafted with excellence

and wielded with care,

a weapon

or a tool.

Decisions,

not up to I.

No hesitation,

wield with pride.

Else a knife of another,

will slip inside.

I loved creating a ballad for the knife as I wrote a short story from the perspective of a thief's knife. The suddeness of life and the fleeting loyalty of humans are issues I wrestle with; we all deal with violence and betrayal and control is immeasurable and depends wholly on the tools given or taken from us.
