Nothing More

Nothing could break us apart.

We'd been friends for ten years.

I never knew a friendship could hurt,

but it did, more than anything.

Your words twisted in my head

as I tried every excuse for me to leave.

I caused an uproar,

beating my chest and yelling.

Then you were gone,

like a ship in the night.

I knew I could never forgive myself

for your pain.

Yet now I am happy

maybe even more.
