Nothing: II

When I was young and just a little girl I saw

that you would turn away before you cried

I asked you what was wrong but you were gone

You told me that “It’s nothing”, but you lied

I saw that in your eyes you were not fine

My love, you look away when you are sad

Your love’s like drugs to me; your lips are wine

But lately it has spoiled; your love’s gone bad

I brought you to the rooftop’s edge and said

“Just go ahead. Your way to bliss is there.”

Upon your tippy toes you looked ahead

You shivered when you saw. Your face was scared.

A fall will bruise your knees, and nooses give

Afraid? My love, you might as well just live
