Not so Dear, America.
Dear White America,
You are not so endearing.
I bear the thorned cross of an ethnic name,
burdened with baggage instituted,
from bloodened roots that cultivated this soil.
White American Academia,
the same cycle you have created,
you source from
for applause
of saving me
from my existence
like a trophy for your charitableness,
or ego.
For education,
You advise me,
to beg on my knees,
parade around the battered, callused hands
and broken English
that have raised me,
like a token for your five year plans,
Stripping me of skill, talent, identity
to simply being a saved victim of your white America.
